Today on the anniversary of the birth of Monsieur André-Gustave Citroën, we are talking about the ”Deux Chevaux” (literally means two horses).  This car is a French classic –  so vintage and retro, got to love it!  The first generation was built by Citroën from 1949 to 1960, a basic car designed for farmers to move produces back and forth between the farm and the market.  Later one, practical and affordable, the 2CV became a favorite of French women to go grocery shopping, go to the farmers market or do small trips in town.

They don’t make them anymore but we use to have one – we loved her very much!   Picture this – ours had no keys, you just press on a button, and there it went (so if you lose your keys, no problem there!).  And in the spring and summer, the roof top comes of – makes you feel like so good!

You can still find them in France, people restore them and they are still very popular.  Some people even have fun with them — look at this one we saw in Paris coming all the way from Germany – how fun is that!  And a favorite children’s game during road trips (but watch out it can get out of hand) is to look for 2 CV vertes (green 2 CV) – you get to pinch whoever is next to you when you see one (that was way before the Volkswagen commercial!).  So definitely a lot of pinching was going on that day in Paris!
