Eleanore Roosvelt said it well – “A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water”

On this special day of celebration and remembrance, we hope you will find the photo montage tribute below inspiring — feel free to forward to mothers, daughters, grandmothers, granddaughters, and women friends. From the US, you will see Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt, American WWII recruits, Rosa Parks, etc. From France, you will see Marie Curie and Simone Weil — as well as many great women from around the world. It’s hard to believe that women could not vote in the US until 1920 and in France, women had to wait until 1944! And there are so many women still struggling in the world today for basic human rights so let’s pay tribute to the many women that paved the way and made it possible for us to be where we are today. And let’s not forget the women in our daily lives that nurture our resilience, determination, and femininity.

For our English speaking readers:
Odette says: Bonjour, there was Sister Emmmanuelle who did tremendous work for the less fortunate and of course, as said in the article, there is Simone Weil and we can’t forget Gisèle Halimi (attorney). Both did a lot to defend and improve women’s conditions of life. They are two women, older now, that are exceptional.
To follow on my message, I’d like to further state: both are still strongly defending today women’s rights…and I salute all women who devoted part of their lives to defending women’s rights for us.
Art of the Home says: Thanks for sharing the name of those exceptional French women.
