Almost thirty years later, Woolite has come up with products other than the old fashion striped white & blue bottle. However, Woolite remains a gentle detergent for wool clothing and fragile fabrics. My latest favorite (which I use when I’m in France but was not able to find in the US until recently) is the Woolite for dark colors detergent, suitable for both top loading and HE machines.
Back when Catherine Deneuve filmed that commercial, Woolite did not have the extra dark care detergent and washing machines didn’t have the “hand wash” cycle either. Most of them do today — that is something to be grateful for! And as Catherine Deneuve says in this commercial, “No matter what happens, you’ll be fine…with Woolite!” Enjoy…

Grew up in a home where we did hand laundry using Woolite, and then saw a friend washing their lamb with Woolite for a show and they told me that Woolite was gentle and didnt destroy the natural lanolin in the sheeps wool. Woolite being used in cold water, prevents the quality items I own from shrinking. Which saves me money which like all wise French women know, is good.
