French Stone Houses Pictures
Today, we are sending you a few stone houses pictures taken during walks and during a weekend street “vide-grenier” (garage sale although it literally means empty-attic). Stone houses are so beautiful and often carry a long history – some dating back many centuries. In France, you can find them isolated in the countryside, inside fortified cities, or simply in the middle of the “bourg” (village center). Most stone houses have had to undergo renovation and it’s endearing to know that homeowners go to great length to stay faithful to the character of their stone house – definitely a labor of love!
Wishing you a delightful Tuesday with these photos, enjoy!

- The small “garde-manger” (pantry) below needs some TLC but would fit in perfectly in any French country decor. And notice the shutters, as with most shutters in France, they are functional and certainly closed daily at nightime.

- The above stone house is surrounded by a stone wall, used here to showcase the “vide-grenier” items for sale:

- This rustic stone wall is also perfect to hold a geranium terra cotta pot or other planters:

- Cute small cottage-like stone and brick house. The blossoming pink hydrangeas (hortensia) are so beautiful!

Are these houses for sale? Just wondering. Thanks.
My late husband and I went to France for our honeymoon nearly 13 years ago (he had lived there years ago)….the beautiful homes and gorgeous WINDOWS AND DOORS just floored me. I took so many pix of doorways and have them displayed in my French-themed guest room. Carcassonne was one place that really got my attention, with it’s walled city and all that gorgeous stone. How I wish I lived in a stone house!! Thanks for sharing.
