3 Tips about Cherries
Art of the Home Tips —
- Picking cherries: the first step is to look at the stems – the greener the better. It means they were recently picked. In fact, we typically go for organic fruits but yesterday they had brownish stem so we went for the non-organic that had much greener ones. The organic cherries must have been at least 1 week old so the trade off was not worth it.
- Storing Cherries: place at the bottom of the fridge – you can save them up to 10 days. But make sure to take them out for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before enjoying otherwise the’ll be too cold and less flavorful. If you plan on having some for dessert, just take them out before you get dinner going and they’ll be ready. The plus of storing them in the fridge as opposed to on the kitchen counter is that, you’re not tempted to grab a few each time you pass by – you know what I mean!
- Reasonable Portion: it’s easy to keep going with cherries but be careful they are loaded with sugar and unlike their red sisters the strawberries, you have to watch out how much you eat. A normal lady’s handful is enough (about 10 or so) is a good portion – equivalent to an apple. Enjoy and bon appétit!
